I do not do new year resolutions, because I never follow through with them. Instead, I do MONTHLY goals/resolutions. I seem to do well with monthly goals.
On the 1st of every month, my calendar says: "Goal:___."
On the 15th of every month it says "Check In".
At the start of the month, I make a goal. On the 15th, I check how I am doing. At the start of the next month, I either make a new goal or sometimes keep the old. Some goals from the past have been bed times, wake up times, drinking more water, writing at least 3 things I am grateful for, being more encouraging, taking my problems to God before people, accomplishing a task I've really wanted to get done, and even not yelling at my kids to get out of the kitchen when I'm trying to make dinner. :)
This month, my goal has been to spend more time in my Bible. In particular, I have been curious about various subjects so I have been reading every verse in the Bible that pertains to those topics. I am really enjoying my research and learning.

We haven’t met, but I’m friends with your dad and that’s how I learned about your blog. I’m absolutely impressed with the skills and thoughts you share here.
Learning something new is so difficult, and sometimes it seems like the options are either “struggle” or “quit”. One of my goals this year is to learn some basic Spanish. It was one of my resolutions last year too (I can’t even say I “quit” on that goal... I never even started!!).
I get overwhelmed by all the new words, the new sounds, and self-consciousness of being wrong or sounding stupid. So I’m trying to let all that stress go. And like Heidi’s approach, I’m trying to set mini-goals to keep myself on track. I suppose the “struggle” is where the learning and the change happens. :)
I hope by the time summer rolls around that we can all feel good about whatever progress we’ve made on our resolutions! I look forward to reading more from you!

It’s your cousin Madie here! I just binge-read all your blog posts and I have to say it is amazing to hear your voice through the words you type. We haven’t been able to see each other in quite sometime sadly since I moved to Utah for college in 2018 and then Covid decided to barge into everyone’s lives. I’m so excited to keep reading your posts and hearing about all your wondering achievements because WOW there are sooo many and I’m so happy for you!
